The brief was to create a fresh, contemporary style garden to complement a modern extension, to include two distinct terraces: an evening terrace to enjoy the last rays of the setting sun and a breakfast terrace designed to capture the morning light.

Carefully positioned to maintain privacy from neighbouring properties, the design makes the most of every inch of this garden, including its unique two-level layout. Pleached Magnolias alongside the dining area, give privacy from the neighbouring property and blend in beautifully with the existing mature magnolia tree on the adjacent boundary.

The clients wished to retain a large, central lawn and have planting along the boundaries. Having two levels to a garden increases visual interest and gave us the opportunity to link them through the inclusion of raised beds, as well as the slatted fencing which echoed the look of the new extension.

The colours of the garden evolve from season to season, with the soft blues, purples, pinks, greens, and whites of the planting palette ensure the space remains fresh and inviting, while evergreen hedging adds structure and elegance in all seasons. A tranquil retreat that maximises outdoor living while blending seamlessly with the modern aesthetic of the home.
